forum business card design...discussion thread.

just playing around a bit...came up with this...trying to keep it fairly simple, while allowing it to jump out at whoever is looking at it, at the same time...i just want some ideas as to what i could list as features of the site...

so far, i'm thinking.

- free classifieds
- chat
- local show/meet discussion
- arcade room
- garage

anything else?

How about having on the back. "Tell them _______ referred you." Write in your username in the blank. When the 355 site had some done, we found out after the fact we could've had something printed on the back at no extra charge.

I'm assuming these cards are printed using sublimation, so colors would be nice. IMO

well actually..this was gonna be a i can send you a file so you can print on cardstock/cut them out yourself type of deal. i could wing the double sided printing also..but i was looking at low-budget..but hell, if anyone wants to front the cost of having them printed..:haha:

we're cheap asses mike...very cheap. :(

at least for the time being, i think eventually getting nice ones done, would be cool..but for now..:dunno:

if you get me a file sent i can possibly get an assload of 1 colors cut and made on the cheap and bring to the meet in march (dad works a printshop and mkaes cards all the time)

Edit: Figured it out, the damn pic was CMYK, and needed to be RGB.

i know my pops has the capability to do color busness cards( the real ones not printer paper) but i dont know about the price cause it will take so long to make them. on the way mike has the black and white that is technically a 2 color with black and gray. ill see what pops can do if not there are lots of places online that do business cards fairly resonable.

If the printer does it sublimation, aka 4 color process, it don't matter how many colors the art is. It could be a million colors, sublimation printing will make any color using 4 base colors. (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) CMYK. :)

LOL, not trying to put yours down at all. When I did the art for the 355 site's card, I kept it simple, because at the time we didn't know the guy could do photo quality work. Their cards were pretty cheap, and it didn't matter how many colors it was, because of the reason stated in the above post.

i know my pops printers are the old school style not digital they probly have one but he doesnt use it much the one he uses will put out few thousand buicness cards in a half hour or so but that is one color he has to clean and replate for every diffrent color. found some places online for like 30 bucks for 500 or so i may just dip into my own pocket and buy some then ship out like 25-30 or so to pepole requesting them.

i know we had our wedding reception stuff done and it ended up being pretty cheap. but those were on a 3x5 card or something.

kinda goofy, considering i didn't really match mike's color scheme...but maybe if we could just grayscale the back, and i think a flat back would be better also...for writing our names, or whatever...as opposed to the glossy. :dunno: if ya'll still wanna use this, and just wanna revise it, lemme know.

yea that sounds good jason. i talked to pops about them he said they out source the glossy cards like those and i can get them just as cheap on my own the same when i asked him about shirts and hoodies he said jsut black and white that i could go in one afternoon and run those for free but the color would just look so much more inticing to porential new members.

and on the backs i chooseglossy becouse there wasnt the reffered by spot on them. with the refered by i will make them flat. ill have to wait till im at work tonight to edit them for the website i used. also there is an option for rounded corners i didnt really like it but what do you guys think its would be an extra 20 per 1000 cards i figure since most people will just look at the card a few times hopefully sign up then loose the card. so why spend an extra 20.

another thing they offer are magnets like 13 bucks for 25 magnets not real sure what they would be good for but thought they were cool

i would help, but i don't have any software ATM capable of fine tuning DPI..like i said before, i had just thrown that together in microsoft paint. i never really caught on too well to photoshop. or if mike has some alternative he could use...that'd be good too, just whatever works best...maybe it would also look a little better, if we had the backside done in black and white? i'll post the b&w version in a sec, so maybe mike has something else to go by. but with the red on the front, i think it would look a little better, instead of the blue being on the back..

Just seen this, I only have PS at work, plus you need to start with a big image for a hi-res. If you blow up a small image, you get what Stan had to start with.

Front and back, full color, your choice of uv coated or matte finish. and I can beat most prices.
