Ranger Dash

[i h8 hites]

well my dash has been in tweed for almost 4 years and i think its about time for some change. The plan was to glass and paint it blue, but after i pulled the tweed off and noticed the ginormous cracks, there mite be a change in plans. Im not by any mean dynasty designs so dont look for any great work like you would see jason do, but please accept the work. Not too great with the bondo either, you can tell in the pics. The dash has one huge crack down the center, and a busted hole below the vent where the brick went through my window and smacked it. anyway heres the pics. i will keep you informed as i move along with the project. I also included a pic of the door panel that still has to be smoothed, and the speakerpod for the b pillar.

yeah dub, the ashtray is definitely gettin painted to match. along with the top half of the dash if plans work through. waitin on the padding to get in so i can finish my door panels, and i will continue to post pics. im usually pretty discreet about my work and dont like to put it on the internet just b/c i tend to work harder and not smarter and not do things the proper way. any criticism is wanted, because anything will help. thanks fellas

got the passenger door panel glassed and got the tweeter pod started. thats at the top of the door panel. Also included a picture of the dash where i glassed the cracks in, and began to shave the defrost side vents.

been on the road alot lately so havent gotten much done. but heres what its looking like now. Got the driver side tweeter pod molded. now just have to lay the ring and cover it with glass.

the next few are just pictures of the dash. im molding the vents into the dash on the passenger side and shavin the defrost vents. so thats whats goin on here. hopefully they arent too shifty looking...

worked on the ranger a little bit today. managed to get both tweeter pods stretched and fiberglass, and i got the foam laid down on the passenger door panel. I used foam up under the suede b/c the suede is so damn thin. it shows every imperfection in the panel, and to tell the truth i didnt feel like bustin my ass on something that was not bein painted. anyways heres a pic that shows the panel in the foam and both pods. enjoy hopefully

damn took me awhile to find out where this thread went, but i guess ill still update it. worked on the dash for a little while the other day but its not exactly turnin out like i thought it would. The suede doesnt adhere to the foam like it does the regular panel, so i may just have to do away with the foam. here are some pics anyway. the door isnt put together i just layed the pieces on it so people could understand what i am tryin to accomplish.

well the panels no longer look like the bottom pics. i tried to fix a few bubbles in the suede and when i did it pulled the suede a little and made a gap between that and the armrest. i couldnt get the gap filled back in, so i just ripped it off. got to order some more suede before i can get back to doin any of that, but i will still b busy building the speaker pods and so forth.

well i got the other b pillar covered and amazingly, i didnt have to seam the top of it. I'm guessing i learned after the first one i covered. No need for pics of just that, im definately tryin to get the rest of the interior completely done this weekend. That way both doors will be covered, and the tweeter pods and speaker pods will be smooth. Only thing left would be the dash, which is going to be a bitch.

yeah, i need to call keith and inform him im not going to be able to make it. I have to work 5.5 hours in GA on Friday then drive back here. That would put me getting back to Gville at like 6, then turn around and drive 4 hours to LH. I'm just thinking of shackin it up at the crib by myself that way i know i will get some work done. I really hate to miss that IHRA, but this traveling is waxin my ass, plus im broke. Definately coming home on May 8th tho, cuz d's got a beachtrip w/ the lady teachers.

got a few things finished today. Not all what i wanted but it helps out. SOrry for the crappy pics, there cell phone pics. Im also thinkin im goin to hate this suede because everything little stain on your finger shows up on it. Probably not going to be a good choice for a seat.

well my friend fred wants to help on the dash, so im bringin that to him over the mothers day weekend. That will help out alot, seeing as how i hate sanding, and i have really no sanding tools. Still got to get both tweeter and speaker pods sanded. Once all is done, probably get him to paint them and the installation will be underway. Given an unltimatum by the lady friend, she says it needs to be ready by June so she can use my F for a few days. kind of glad, now i actually have to finish it on time.

Dropped the dash off to Fred when I went to my parents house for Mothers day. Dub has the console, and I'm going to shoot for June 20th to get it finished. So dublin if ya check this, decide how much you want for your interior services, and let me know. Probably get fred to pick it up so he can spray it along w/ the rest of the parts.

well dublin, i dont expect you do work on the ranger for free. I mean hell, if i bring you the rest of the pods(speaker and tweeter) and you get them prepped, then we will call the intake even. i'll just mail you the pods, its no big deal. They dont weith too much, but i mite have to draw on the so you can get the countour of the door panel. I built one side up a little bit higher than i needed so i was going to sand it down even with the door. Anyways, try to send that out over the weekend. again donnas parents are coming down and they are going to use her car, her usin the 150 and me getting to whip the rnager finally. Shes thinkin that its just going to be in primer so i can drive it, but i plan on having it painted and everything. i figure why put it in the truck, then have to rip it out again. Just go ahead and paint it and b done!!!!

well after a couple months of my truck sittin in the rain and the front window letting water in,i have gotten the entire interior finished(besides the console). here are some pics of the interior that was dropped off over the weekend. maybe next weekend i can get it installed and get you some final pics. anyway enjoy so far.

well here are the pics of the dash installed, and the functional glovebox. only thing i got left as far as dash is the ashtray, which im tryin to modify to put the air gauges into it. hopefully it wont take too long to get it back rite. freds got all the pods painted just have to wait to get to LH to pick them up and go ahead and put them in. im extremely happy with the results of the dash, just not happy with the fitment. Since its 15 years old the clips have broken off the back of the bezel and dont fit up like its supposed too. tried to fix it but oh well, ill leave that to whoever buys it. anyway enjoy the pics!!

man im just feelin like im gettin too old for it. i never drive it, it just sits in the yard and everytime i look at it i find something else i have to do it. guess i got too many wants, and the ranger just isnt one of those anymore. when i get it finished like i want it, then i will decide if its up for sell. as for now just tryin to get it back drivable again.
